Senator Mark Daly was appointed as Deputy Leader of the Fianna Fáil Senate group following his re-elections to the Seanad with 184 votes. Fianna Fáil are the largest elected group of the 25th Seanad sitting.
As a member of the Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade, Senator Daly plays an active role in finding the best stance for Ireland to take regarding international issues.
Senator Daly has a strong interest in conflict prevention, resolution and reconciliation and consider it a privilege to be in a position to influence national policy on these areas.

As a member of this committee Senator Daly has an important role in relation to the key areas which the committee is involved, some of which being issues surrounding Reconciliation and Commemoration, North-South Co-Operation and Funding Programmes.
Senator Daly is deeply involved in assessing the impact on Northern Ireland of the United Kingdom leaving the European Union.
