My Motion on Organ Donation Sees Minister for Health Attend Seanad to Discuss Vacant Posts at Beaumont

As a result of a motion that I put forward on organ donation, the Minister for Health, Leo Varadkar, had to be called into the Seanad this discuss the important issue on the vacant posts in Beaumont Hospital that need to be filled.

The Motion:

That Seanad Eireann calls on the Government to ensure the vacant Urology, with an interest in Transplantation, posts in Beaumont Hospital, be categorised as very urgent and receive an exemption to the current pay scales on offer, that the recent practice of instructing transplanted patients to attend Hospital Emergency Departments be complemented by providing access to Senior Specialist Nurses or attending Renal Registrars, first and the use of the treatment abroad fund, commences, to provide dual Kidney and Pancreas and Pancreas alone Transplants for people on the current waiting list. So the available, donated Irish organs can be utilised.
