Senator stands by claim that Taoiseach spoke to McNulty at Sligo event

Breaking News

A Fianna Fáil senator is today standing by his claims that Enda Kenny spoke to John McNulty about the Seanad by-election – three months before Mr McNulty got his role at IMMA.

Mark Daly repeated his claims in the Seanad today, having originally made them in the chamber last night.

The allegations have been denied by both Enda Kenny’s spokesman and sources close to John McNulty himself.

However, Senator Daly today repeated his claims, suggesting the two discussed the Seanad vacancy when they attended the same event in Sligo in June.

“The Taoiseach was there,” he said. “My information is that they met.

“I’d ask the leader maybe to clarify whether or not the phrase ‘the job’s as good as yours’ was used?

“But to make such a journey, and to claim that he never met him, is quite extraordinary.”
