Kerry’s Political Dynasties: A Historical Perspective, a public lecture by journalist and writer, Owen O’Shea will be held at the Meadowlands Hotel, Tralee on Wednesday, 30 October and in the Killarney Court Hotel, Killarney on Thursday 31 October, both at 8.00pm.

Taking a look at the centuries-old tradition of political dynasties in Kerry, the talks focus on how and why a few families have continued to maintain dominance on the local political scene. They also look at how the political dynasties pre-date Independence and why so many have been so successful at returning generation after generation to the Council chamber and Leinster House.

The talks will be based on Owen O’Shea’s book, Heirs to the Kingdom: Kerry’s Political Dynasties (O’Brien Press, 2011). All welcome.
