As a result of the Seanad Recall Debate today on Organ Donation and Transplantation, the HSE, Press and Communications Office have confirmed they are pursuing the recruitment of a full-time Project Manager and an administrator for the National Organ Donation &Transplantation Office.
Prior to this announcement, this essential office had only a director and 1/6 of a principle officer. This Department is now in the progress of being given a suite of office and in time will be fully staffed.
Senator Daly who secured the 20 signatures enabling the recall of the Seanad to debate the flawed EU Directive on organ donation and transplantation has welcomed this confirmation and hopes the HSE will continue to implement changes to help 650 people currently on the organ transplant list.
Another important development following the Seanad Recall today is the Government have moved its position on the Human Tissue Bill from not having a date of publication to indicating the Bill should be published before the end of the year.
