On Easter Saturday, a plaque was unveiled in Kenmare commemorating those who lost their lives in the War of Independence and the Headford Ambush.

Kenmare Easter Week Gathering
Unveiling of the War of Independence & Headford Ambush Memorial Easter Saturday March 30th 2013 by Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Jimmy Deenihan TD & Senator Mark Daly, Members of the All Party Oireachtas Decade of Commemorations Committee and the Transition Year Class of Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine 2012. The Army will parade from Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine to the unveiling.
Afterwards, the local drama group, the Carnegie Players, will re-enact “Speeches from the Dock” of Robert Emmet and Padraig Pearse in Kenmare Courthouse.
