A meeting took place on the 12th feb in Kerry General Hospital, 10 newly graduate nurses were called to a meeting where they were told contracts will cease on the 24th of Feburary unless they signed the 80% contract.
Kerry general have applied for 5 full time graduate Positions or 10 18.75 hour contracts which have yet to be approved.
The 1000 nursing contracts that have not yet been filled are not extra jobs, they are taking existing nursing jobs putting nurses out of work.
They were unable unable to tell the graduates how they would be replaced on the wards when most of the graduates are doing 37.5hour weeks. Only that “nurses can adapt”.
Asked how they would spend the 3000euro for education, the director of nursing was unable to state same.
