Rural Transport Scheme under Threat, Senator Mark Daly to question the Minister for Transport in the Seanad

Senator Mark Daly is asking the Minister for Transport to come into the Seanad as a matter of urgency to answer questions regarding the new threat to the continuation of the Rural Transport Scheme.

Senator Daly stated “I have been contacted by local providers of the scheme to the rural transport network in Kerry, who are deeply concerned by the lack of clarity regarding the scheme after its current contract ends in July.”

The last time a similar threat to the scheme emerged, Senator Daly successfully lobbied the then Fianna Fail Minister Noel Dempsey to ensure the survival of the scheme.

Senator Daly is now calling on all Fine Gael and Labour Oireachtas members to ensure the scheme is maintained throughout 2013.
